What’s the most annoying thing about clothes shopping in 2018?
I would have to say how brands are turning towards “fast fashion” where they put quantity over quality. I love shopping at some of the trendy shops and saving some cash as much as the next gal, but sometimes the quality of the item is so poor that I can only get one or two wears out of a garment before it shrinks in the wash or has an unravelling hem.
What trend (that everyone loves) do you hate?
The Ugly Sneaker trend! I can’t get on board with those chunky style, all-white dad shoes to save my life. Even when I see other bloggers dress them up with a super cute outfit, those shoes are an eye sore to me. I think shoes can either make or break an outfit, so I take more time on choosing a perfect shoe than I do the entire look itself.
What’s the biggest change in the way you’ve shopped for clothes?
Since I discovered Instagram shopping, I’ve never looked back! I’ll buy almost 90% of my clothes from boutiques & brands Instagram pages. I love how easy it has become (even though my wallet would disagree). It’s made it super easy to find pieces that some of my favorite influencers are wearing too, which seemed like a chore before.
What’s your earliest memory of caring about how you dressed?
When I was in middle school, I actually wanted to be a fashion designer. I carried around a notebook with me all the time that served as my fashion sketch book. My grandmother taught me to sew when I was pretty young so I was always messing around with fabrics trying to make clothes and other items. I guess ever since then I’ve always noticed clothes and their details a little more closely.
In high school I would try to mimic some high fashion trends that probably looked more ridiculous on me than fashionable, but it’s something I’ve always had a passion for.
Who is your current style icon?
Blake Lively for sure! She is always so glamourous and elegant, which honestly is probably the exact opposite of myself and why I look up to her so much. Her style is multidimensional and I love how she focuses on the little details.
What’s the most important style item to invest in?
I think having a quality, versatile purse that can carry all your necessities without being overly bulky is a must! Invest in one that has good quality leather and adjustable straps. I like to buy purses with more neutral tones so that they can go with more outfits as well. Trendy purses can be fun from time to time, but nothing beats quality in the handbag department!
What is the most underappreciated item in a woman’s wardrobe?
I would actually say a hat. Hats are such a statement piece, and can completely change the vibe of an outfit with minimal effort! I come from a western background, so I have a small collection of felt cowboy hats that I love wearing year round. With so many different style and color options available, it’s easy to find the perfect hat that fits your mood.
