She tells us her biggest fashion mistakes, the most under-appreciated items in a woman's wardrobe, and the biggest mistake that people make when shopping for clothes.
How did you dress as a child?
I went from dressing SUPER girlie to tom-boy… Growing up in the 90s it was a lot of baggy jeans, crop-tops, overalls and chokers. Clueless vibes. Funny how it’s back in style now!
“It used to be that in order to have stylish boots, you had to sacrifice the functionality... Well I’m thrilled to say that’s no longer the case thanks to the incredibly stylish limited edition Small Batch collection launched by Cougar!”

What was your favorite thing to wear?
Oh man… I had so many favourites. I loved my jelly sandals and my converse sneakers. Loved my wide leg corduroy jeans… all my ‘whatever’ and smiley crop tops.
What trend (that everyone loves) do you hate?
I hate that ‘dad sneakers’ have become a thing this year. They’re not hip, they’re not cool, they’re just ugly.
“My personal favourite is the Vanora Suede Winter Boot. It comes in three colours and is a style you can wear anywhere, no matter the weather.”

What’s the biggest change in the way you’ve shopped for clothes?
I do a lot of online shopping. Because I shop professionally for all of my clients and fashion segments, I don’t love going to the mall when I’m not working. Online shopping has become so much easier, and it’s so nice to have it arrive right at your door!
What’s the most important style item to invest in?
Living in Canada, the most important things to invest in are a great pair of boots and a beautiful, yet functional, coat. Because of our winters we tend to live in these essential outerwear items for months at a time, so it’s important that they’re well made and can hold up in even the harshest of conditions.
What is the most underappreciated item in a woman’s wardrobe?
I would say great undergarments! A great fitting bra and comfortable underwear are the perfect pairings that help complete a killer outfit. Without those being on point, the rest of the outfit can fall flat (literally and figuratively!)
What’s the biggest mistake people make when shopping for clothes?
Buying things on a whim. When you head out to shop it’s important to make a list, much like you would your groceries. Not only will this help you from overspending, it’ll also eliminate you buying things you don’t need (and therefore probably won’t wear).
I think another mistake men and women can make is buying something just because it’s a good deal… Just because it’s a designer piece that’s 70% off does not mean it works for you!
