Growing up on the tropical islands of the Phillipines, she moved to Seattle to pursue her love of professional acting and dancing. She took our new summer sandals on a few recent trips.
You have a time machine. What time and place do you travel to just for the clothes?
I’m in love with the revolution of fashion in the 20th century, but if I had to choose a specific time it would be the vintage 1960s in Europe; maybe France, Italy or London. I’d wear my hippest fit, go grab a coffee and croissant and then bask in the sun.
How did you dress as a child? What was your favorite thing to wear?
I grew up in a tropical country filled with islands, so a lot of sandals, slippers, loose & chill clothing going on.
It was also the 90s, so I loved my printed/striped shirts, sneakers, overalls, denim, floral, flowy baby doll dresses. I don’t remember specifically what my favorite thing to wear was, but I remember loving co-ords (matching set of top and skirt/shorts!)
What trend (that everyone loves) do you hate?
I won’t necessarily say hate, but I’m personally not into the Korean fashion or style of makeup!
It looks great and works on a lot of people, even people I know and follow. It’s just not for me – I can’t pull it off!
Share one time when what you were wearing had a big impact on your life.
I went all out wearing a big elephant flowy pants, lacy bralette, lots of dreamy gold accessories. It was during Coachella and felt like I had the time of my life living like a dessert queen. I guess because you could wear almost anything and go all out – it was the norm.
What’s the biggest fashion mistake you’ve ever made?
It was one of my first time going out clubbing with my girlfriends during high school. Back home, they weren’t strict on checking ID, so to let you in they would judge by how you look.
I was wearing a cute blue floral dress, almost like I’m going to the beach, and I was just so out of place… I’m pretty sure I looked like a little girl amongst my friends! We weren’t allowed in because I looked very underage.
Even now, people don’t realize I’m 10 years older than I look!
What is the most underappreciated item in a woman’s wardrobe?
Palazzo pants and below the knee length cardigans.
I know they might just be casually hanging around in my room like nothing sometimes, but they’re honestly one of the easiest pieces to throw on for an everyday wear. They’re also super comfy. Your best friend in long hours.
